Where to Stay
- Hotel Schloss Waldeck – The venue for our wedding. The rooms are VERY nice from our experience, and you can say you’ve spent a night or few in a legitimate castle. Room rates are, admittedly, on the pricey side. We are only planning to stay a couple of nights here ourselves.
- Group Accommodation – For those of you staying here, we’ve probably been in touch via e-mail/facebook/smoke signals, but for the record, the address is
Kampmühle 1. 34513 Waldeck,Germany
- Make your own adventure – Feel free as well to make your own arrangements as there are a number of hotels/b&bs nearby. If you search “Waldeck” on booking.com or another search engine, you are looking for the Waldeck in Hessen, Germany. (there is another in Bavaria)
Where to Eat
- Restaurante Alte Turmuhr (old clocktower) – The more “swag” (so say kids these days) restaurant on the castle grounds. This is VERY fine dining, so cleanse your palate, and prepare to light your wallet on fire. We found the food here pretty amazing, so much so we are having them cater the reception.
- Restaurante Altane – The more casual restaurant in the castle, Altane doubles as the breakfast buffet room. It is, in theory, open for dinner however, it closes earlier than you expect so be sure to check the hours.
- Restaurants in Waldeck
- The internet tells me that a Greek restaurant and a pizzaria are just down the hill from the castle in Waldeck (to the north). We have no experiences to speak of here.
- Restaurants on the lake
- There is a tasty brat/burger stand essentially next-door to the lower cable car station.
- We also noted (and the ‘web confirms) several lakeside cafes less than a half mile from the cable car.
